REFLECTION
Experience
During the process of learning the typography module, I initially felt
confused and anxious about Task 1, as I was unsure about the overall nature
of the module and what our ultimate objectives were. I was even uncertain
about the teacher's expectations, which led to frequent feedback pointing
out my errors. However, as I gradually improved and explored the subject
matter, I began to understand the teacher's requirements and what we needed
to present to meet the class criteria on Task 1:Ex 2. I eventually found
that my favorite task was designing the Task 1:Ex 2 poster because I found
the layout and typography fascinating, allowing me to adjust the composition
according to my own aesthetic preferences. In the later stages, such as Task
3, I started to truly enjoy the process of designing fonts, immersing myself
in research and exploration to create a font that would be both widely
accepted and personally appealing.
Observations
Through studying typography, I have come to understand that every font design has its significance; it is not something designers randomly choose. Therefore, designing a font that is visually pleasing and comfortable to read at first glance, without appearing overly ornate, requires careful consideration. Additionally, paying attention to details is crucial in typography design to achieve the best possible results.
I also have refer to many senior works and learn from their designing skill and E-portfolio's layout, make me feel they have given good afford on this module, it will encourage me to do better .
Findings
I have learned that it is important to be brave in trying and exploring different designs. One should not limit themselves to a single design but instead continuously practice, make corrections, and improve. It was a grateful learning trip of typography in this semester, I will do my best on the next Advanced typography module. And special thanks to my lecturer Mr Vinod by giving us those helpful feedback and guide us to create better works and typefaces.
